Texas LTC Course of Fire

The Texas Department of Public Safety License To Carry Proficiency Demonstration is intended to demonstrate the applicant’s ability to safely handle and shoot a handgun.  Any type and caliber of handgun may be used.

Requirements:

  • Fire 50 rounds at a B-27 target (45″ high x 24″ wide)
  • Standing position with pistol aimed at target
  • Score a minimum of 175 out of a possible 250 points (70% required to pass)
Twenty shots  – 3 yard line:b-27

1 shot in 2 seconds, 5 times
2 shots in 3 seconds, 5 times
5 shots in 10 seconds, once

Twenty shots – 7 yard line:

5 shots in 10 seconds, once
1 shot in 3 seconds, 5 times
2 shots in 4 seconds, once
3 shots in 6 seconds, once
5 shots in 15 seconds, once

Ten shots – 15 yard line:

2 shots in 6 seconds, once
3 shots in 9 seconds, once
5 shots in 15 seconds, once

Scoring:

8, 9, 10, and X rings = 5 points
7 ring = 4 points
on target, outside of rings = 3 points
Blank paper or off paper = 0 points
